'Emitting a warmth that blocked out the harsh
and icy conditions of a Friday night in
Wolvrhampton, Gwildor from North Wales
appeared on stage kitted out with bongos,
synth, violin and acoustics.
The vunerability of Emily consumes you from
the start..
"All hands on deck my dear,
this ship is going down,"
sings Andrew Salomon and you believe him.
But Gwildor do much more than just stay afloat.
Both the acoustic interplay and violin splendour
delight throughout, with violinist Alison
Nesbitt's soaring, fragile falsettos providing the
vocal foundations.
The ghostly tones of Walking War stir up feelings
of love and love-lost, making it the most emotive
song showcased.
Despite the intensity of their sound a degree of
positivity rings throughout as you get the sense
that here is a band that enjoy and really care
about the music they make, resulting in both a
real and organic experience.' |
